About Us
Our Mission: Provide a long-term home for utility service companies with bright futures
Stack Holdings was founded to solve a problem we kept seeing: talented founders in the utility services sector who'd built great businesses but had nowhere to go when they were ready for what's next.
Traditional private equity wasn't a fit—too much pressure for short-term growth, too little respect for what made these businesses work in the first place. Strategic buyers meant becoming a small piece of a larger roll-up. And family succession wasn't always an option.
We built Stack to be different: a permanent home where utility service companies can thrive for the long term.
How We Operate
•
•
Decentralized
You stay in charge of your business. We don't send in new management or make decisions from afar. The people closest to your customers and employees—your team—are the ones who should be running the business.
01
A Place to Grow
We're always looking for talented leaders who want to take on more responsibility. As Stack grows, so do the opportunities for your team to expand their roles across our portfolio.
02
Shared Learnings
We look for repeatable success patterns across our businesses and share them when they're relevant. Whether it's go-to-market strategies, pricing models, or operational improvements, we connect companies that can learn from each other.
03
Reward Success
We make our goals clear, work toward them together, and pay for results. There's no mystery about what success looks like or how it's rewarded.

Meet the Founders
Michael Sachse, Co-Founder
Michael spent seven years on the management team at Opower, a utility software company that went public and was acquired by Oracle, where he served as CMO. He then became CEO of Dandelion Energy, the largest geothermal provider in the US, growing revenue from $2M to $50M. Most recently, he founded Airship, a point-of-sale software company for HVAC backed by QED.
Michael has spent 25+ years solving core challenges for utilities and managing large field services teams. He understands what it takes to build, scale, and exit successful companies in adjacent markets.
Scott Neuman, Co-Founder
Scott led sales operations at Opower before becoming a GM and SVP at Oracle Utilities, where his team closed the largest deal in all of Oracle in 2 of 4 fiscal years. He then served as CEO of Kaluza, a global utility billing platform, growing from $3M to $55M in revenue and raising $100M from Australia's largest energy retailer.
Scott has deep operational experience in both software and services, having managed billing operations for utilities worldwide. He knows how utilities buy, what they value, and how to build lasting customer relationships.
Together
We worked together at Opower through its IPO and acquisition by Oracle. Our combined 25+ years in the utility sector gives us unique understanding of this complex industry and extensive networks with utility leaders and service providers nationwide.
